Why You Should Support Small Businesses

Small businesses have been hit hard this year. There is no doubt about it. They have either had to jump through incredibly difficult hoops just to stay open or have been forced to shut their doors. Some may not open again.

As a community we need to step up and support them more often. Myself included. I have made a lot more of an effort this year to support my local businesses as being a small business owner myself I understand the difficulties and risks you have to take.

Here are some great reasons why you should support us!

1. We help to enrich your local community.

The money you put in to supporting local businesses can directly affect local development. Your money stays local. A shop might buy from another local supplier, have a local accountants, use a local designer etc.

2. We do all we can to make you happy.

I don't want to even count the amount of hours I have put into designing my  packaging. The most important idea to me is knowing the customer receives a beautiful package which they can be equally as excited about opening as I am getting it ready.

3. You make us happy.

I've seen a saying a lot on social media this year that every time a small business owner gets an order they do a 'happy dance'. And it's so true! The thrill I get from hearing the ding then quickly rushing to see what was your favourite product is incredible. I don't think it will ever get old.

4. They help create jobs and keep high streets going.

I'm not quite here yet as Rock and Rainbow is still just run by little old me from home. But I do dream of opening a local shop one day and hiring local people to help me out. By supporting my business you are supporting my dream.

5. It's not easy.

Shopping from a small independent business gives us validation that we are doing the right thing and are on the right track. We don't have the funds to go big and have to work incredibly hard every day just to make a living against all of the competition. It takes a lot of guts and determination to start your own business so when we receive an order it feels like a big pat on the back.

There are so many more reasons for supporting a small business but I will leave it there. I do have some ideas on how you can support us but I will save that for another blog post.
